our philosophy

Our thoughts and actions are inseparable. What we do, how we act, and how see and view things around us are deeply influenced by our inner convictions. Hence, the importance of identifying the core set of values that one would want to nurture for a meaningful life.

The following are among the philosophies that we try to nurture and promote:

  • Modest but healthful living spaces that interact with the natural environment
  • Avoiding toxic building materials and household products that harm health
  • Using food as medicine and avoiding chemical drugs except when unavoidable
  • Using natural remedies as much as possible
  • Caring for the environment by avoiding consumerism, wastefulness, and purchasing what is needed not what is desired
  • Simple and modest living in harmony with other species without destroying their habitats
  • Craftsmanship, small business, and regaining dignity in labor
  • Polyculture over monoculture in agricultural practices, building healthy soil by minimizing tilling, and viewing soil as an extension of our own guts
  • Appreciating beauty in the diversity of ethnicity, colors,  forms, and shapes in the natural world
  • Most importantly, an overarching vertical connection with the Creator of the cosmos, translating into horizontal stewardship of all things on earth: humans, animals, insects, plants, the air, the soil, and all else.
